Just aboout everyone has heard of The Law Of Attraction in some form or another. The internet is awash with programs purporting to teach how you can put it to work for yourself.
Some of those programs have merit. Most are nonsense, luring buyers with promises of easy riches akin to winning a lottery jackpot. As with lotteries themselves, most people end up disappointed.
There are actually several Laws Of Nature governing the principle of attraction. To employ that principle effectively, things have to be set up in harmony with all of those laws. For example, in winning a lottery, we come up against the laws of arithmetic. For each jackpot winner, there must be millions of losers. A lottery is a game that can't add up any other way.
That's not to say that prosperity for everyone is ruled out. It's just that winning lotteries is a pretty poor method.
In any case. Why put all your eggs in one basket by declaring "When I win the lottery" as a condition necessary for everything to fall into place in your life?
How about developing unshakeable peace of mind? How about realising a feeling of being cherished, and able to pour love out to all? How about feeling vibrant with healthy energy, every day? How about tapping into a flow of deeply satisfying creativity? How about connecting up in mutual co-operation with the human family, worldwide?
Do any of those things require a lottery win?
So, how do we get aligned with the Principle Of Attraction so that it helps bring about whatever we desire? Well, a fundamental of that principle is that for something to attract anything at all, it first needs to be attractive to the thing it wants to attract.
That rules out most desires.
"The Universe" (or whatever you choose to call it) is not stupid. Imagine if it did give anything and everything to anyone and everyone, just because they wanted it. The resulting chaos would make the Big Bang sound like the fart of a fruit-fly.
Most people have little clue about what they really want or what is truly in their own best interest. Their desires change like a constantly turning kaleidoscope. That's why advertising works; most of us are easy prey when we see something dressed up as bright and colourful.
You would not give over the controls of a nuclear reactor to a bunch of kids, simply because they wanted to play with it. (Although, sadly, that's the direction perenting seems to be heading, these days.) On the path of evolution, we are all still kids. There are things we need to learn before our hands can be allowed on the controls of how the Universe operates.
The Universe is not random. It unfolds to a plan. Plans are about order and harmony. So, which do you think the Universe will find more attractive? Someone screaming, "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" or someone who is at least trying to understand and follow the Plan?
What evolution teaches us is that the plan of Nature is to move towards better and better, for more and more. Humanity has been privileged to play a key role in that plan. Through science and technology and commerce we have made huge leaps in recent years. But not all for the better, so we are in a mess. But only until we learn that truly forwards progress must be in harmony with Nature's plan, not against it.
The more we learn that, the more the whole world (not just individuals) will come to experience the harmonious peace, love, health, creativity and connection that I spoke of at the beginning.
If you want to see The Law Of Attraction working for you, start thinking about how you could make things better for all around you, in line with Mother Nature's plan. And watch what happens.
And for those who still want to win the lottery first ... ask yourself, "Why?"
