Raw Facts About Food

To enjoy vibrant health, we need to take care over what we eat. We all know that. But, if only we could also still enjoy a daily fix of favourites such as pizza, burgers, apple pie and ice cream!

I'll come back to those delights in a moment. First I'd like to share a new eating experience I have discovered. It's actually the oldest way of eating known to mankind: RAW FOOD.

EATING RAW might not sound very appealing, at first. So let's "fast forward" from the time of my discovery to the results I am experiencing. To begin with, I was (or so I thought) already quite fit and healthy. But after just a few weeks of mostly EATING RAW:

  • I feel far more energised, all day every day.
  • I sleep more soundly.
  • And I am actually enjoying RAW FOOD much more than cooked. Loving it, in fact.

Now, with results like that, isn't EATING RAW worth a closer look? That's what had got me curious about it in the first place: hearing about others experiencing even more dramatic results, such as reversing their diabetes and arthritis through EATING RAW. (You can find out more about that at the Simply Raw website.)

EATING RAW does involve a few losses. But who would complain? Gone are the feelings of bloating and lethargy after a large cooked meal. Also going are the last lingering remains of excess belly fat.

Now, EATING RAW is not a weight-loss diet. (Nor is it any other sort of "diet" plan. Rather it's a lifestyle encompassing many widely different options.) Karen Knowler, "the raw food coach", says she has been both her heaviest and her lightest weight while EATING RAW. At the end of the day, whatever we eat, there still has to be a proper balance between calories coming in through eating and calories going out through exercise. But here is why that balancing act becomes easier when EATING RAW.

The feeling of hunger is a body signal that more nutrients are needed. So, we eat, and the hunger goes away when the required nutrients are delivered. Note: when the required nutrients are delivered.

All food consists of calories, but when it comes to nutrients, not all calories are equal. The big problem with what we call "junk" foods is this. They are big on calories, yet rather empty of nutrients. That is why we can eat them until we feel we will burst, yet still feel hungry. They do not satisfy the cry for nutrients.

All cooked food comes with that same problem. Cooking destroys nutrients ... often as much as half or more! On the other hand, RAW FOODS retain all the nutrients that Nature placed in them (the fresher the better), as well as enzymes and beneficial bacteria that help us digest and absorb those nutrients.

So, EATING RAW generally means getting far more nutrients from far fewer calories. Result: we can get to feeling satisfied before feeling full. It's a most pleasant feeling, I can tell you. And with those feelings under control, we can more easily control our eating, instead of being controlled by it.

So, what about those pizzas and burgers? What about a tasty treat of apple pie and ice cream? Are they banished forever if we desire the benefits of EATING RAW?

Far from it. You can enjoy them every day, if you like.

Yes, there are RAW FOOD versions of all those things, and much more. And personally, I find the raw versions far more tasty and saisfying.
