New Year: What's Special?

Today, a friend mused, "Is anything different in 2011?". Good question. Technically, New Year is just another day like all the others that follow an endless procession. But there really is something deeper going on.

What makes it special is that individuals in huge numbers choose to make it special: to celebrate letting go the old, welcoming the new, and resolving to make things better. It all adds up to a profound effect on the field of emotional and mental energy in which we all live.

This is more that just the fleeting feeling of the party atmosphere. Scientific instruments regularly detect a wave of "something" sweeping around the planet on occasions like New Year. If you'd like to explore the facts of that, check out the website of the Global Coherence Initiative, which "is a science-based co-creative project to unite people in heart-focussed care and intention, to facilitate the shift in global consciousness from instability and discord to balance, co-operation and enduring peace." Well worth a look!

The thing is, we create that wave of positive energy. And it is within the power of each of us to recreate it every day. Try it.

You will instantly see the positive response from others to a relaxed smile. Even pleasant thoughts, however private we think they are, will seep out and provide a little "lift" to those around us. This can be explored further in my recent e-book Harmony Between Souls, which you can download for free. (Click the new Get My Books tab at the top of the page.
